J. Fred Kuntz paints in acrylic on canvas, mainly landscapes. While he has produced a few commissioned works, and sold paintings in shows, many of his works are kept in his private collection or were gifts to family. He also has dabbled throughout his life in cartooning - and more recently in clay sculpture.
Fred grew up in a creative family. His father, a printer and graphic artist, painted landscapes; his mother was a gifted quilter; and his siblings have talents in art and music. Living on the shore of Lake Huron with his wife Liz, Fred finds inspiration in the waves, sand dunes, woodlands and general beauty of nature. In the painting above, that's their pet, Brook.
Fred is also a public affairs consultant through his company, J. Fred Kuntz Communications. A 30-year journalist in Canadian media - including as Editor-in-Chief of the Toronto Star, Associate Editor of the Globe and Mail, and Publisher of the Waterloo Region Record - he works today in public relations and Indigenous engagement,
in the Canadian clean-energy sector.
